NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair
During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the hard-fought win.
Defensive Display Seals Contest
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Offense
Despite their dismal performance, the Jets still had possession with a opportunity to score a possible winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented following the game.
