Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
